The clinics and staff are warm and friendly and provide an exemplary service for people of all ages from Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall.

Chiropractor Kevin Kelly graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic in 1986.  He works both for the NHS and in private practice and has also worked as the Plymouth Albion RFC Chiropractor.

He was the first Chiropractor in the UK to have a Sports Sciences degree and  he is also NEBOSH trained.  In his central Plymouth, chiropractic clinic he treats a variety of problems in individual one-to-one sessions.  With over 20 years experience treating more common injuries as well as more serious ones,  such as slipped discs and specific symptoms due to whiplash, he has a particular interest in treating headaches and prolapsed discs.

Mr Kelly treats his patients in the way he would like to be treated himself.  He has helped thousands of patients.

Chiropractic is a primary health-care profession so you do not need  to see your doctor to visit a Chiropractor.  Chiropractors are trained to diagnose your problem, finding out what is wrong with you and why you are in pain.  This is usually because you have a problem with your joints and muscles.  You will also be checked for any related medical conditions for which you will need to go to your doctor or to hospital.   Every year Chiropractors send thousands of patients to their GP’s or to hospital because they have a condition which requires medical help.

Treatment at our central Plymouth chiropractic centre.

You will usually be treated immediately after your initial assessment and examination ….. the longer you have an injury the longer it takes to get better.  Remember a similar injury to yours has probably been examined and treated by us hundreds of times.    Before starting treatment the results of your tests will be discussed in clear, straight forward terms, what is wrong with you, and what can be done about it and what you should expect when you will be given your first treatment.

You will also be told about any exercises or changes to your lifestyle or diet that may be of use so that you can help yourself, in doing this you will get better more quickly,  so please follow any advice to the letter.

Chiropractic treatment  involves safe, gentle,  spinal manipulation to free joints in the spine or other areas, that are not moving and are ‘ stuck’, this will cause a  ‘pop’ and may cause your pain and stiffness to feel less at once.   The ‘pop’ is simply the sound of bubbles of gas popping in the fluid of the joint as the pressure is released.

Apart from Chiropractic manipulation, we  use different types of treatment such as Soft tissue Therapy, Fascial release, ice, heat,  exercise as well as advice about your posture and lifestyle.  If you wish to know any thing else about these,  just speak to one of our team.

YOUR FIRST SESSION

When you visit our clinic for your initial consultation we will build up a picture of your overall health and general fitness, Patient comfort is taken into account at all times and will be reflected in your examination.

Postural assessment, Chiropractic assessment, Orthopaedic Assessment and Neurological assessment are undertaken in almost all cases. This enables your presenting problem to be evaluated in many ways. This not only assists us with making the diagnosis but also to establish a treatment program that will best apply to your individual problem.

In some cases other examination procedures may be undertaken as well, blood pressure, pulse, abdominal examination etc. Everybody is different and so are their problems.

In the unlikely event that chiropractic treatment is contraindicated or unsuitable for you, you will be referred to your GP or relevant specialist.
